After lots of experimenting I've managed to come up with the right bleaching solution to allow me lighten these feathers from dark brown enough to take on bold bright colours, while not damaging the feathers in the process. This is a hugely time consuming process and we also strip off the very fluffy fibres on the bottom of the feathers along the thick stem leaving only the usable fibres ready to tie on to the fly. These feathers can be used for all types of salmon fly but really lend themselves to Temple dog and intruder styles of flies which need a long soft hackle to add movement to the fly. They are sold in packs of 12 feathers and have a range of feather sizes per pack.
